  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons espresso powder
  • 1 Tablespoon hot water
  • 2 cups + 2 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 Tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup + 2 tablespoons sour cream
  • 2 Tablespoons Dutch process cocoa powder

  1. Some readers have had problems with their batter overflowing from their loaf pan. If you are worried abut your loaf pan not being big enough, only fill it 2/3 of the way with batter and keep a sheet pan underneath
