Yes you can broil in the oven you just have to keep a super close eye on it! Put your broil to high and then watch is the whole time, rotating every 10 seconds or so!

My oven is only two years old, and is reliable at keeping the proper temperature. Already, I have baked it for an hour and a half, and the center is still not set.
