Hi Elissa! So happy to hear you’re enjoying this banana bread! You can toss the chocolate chips in a little flour before adding to the batter–it will help them not sink!

My only issue is that, when baking, the chocolate chips often fall to the bottom of the loaf so all the chocolate is condensed at the bottom rather than scattered throughout the loaf. Is there any way to prevent this?

The bread was super raw at 40 minutes in the oven so I put it back in for 6 more minutes and then another 10 minutes until the knife finally came out clean. I let the bread sit for 15 minutes before taking it out to cool on a wire rack and it looked deflated. After cooling, I sliced a piece to try and it was very wet with an odd texture and chewy, slightly burnt exterior. I assessed the process, trying to think of what went wrong and then it hit me: I used a ceramic baking dish instead of a baking tin. Do you think this is why the texture of my bread turned out so strange? Or maybe the bananas I used were large and added too much moisture? Next time I have brown bananas, I’ll try again!

That’s so odd!! Were your bananas especially large? I’ve never had this take so long to cook!

I used a 9×5 dark loaf pan, and it ended up taking close to 75 minutes to be close to done. It was still raw in the middle at 50 minutes.

Absolutely! Depending on how nutty you want it you can adjust the amount!

I’ve made this like 4x this year and it’s February. I modify it a lot bc of what I have on hand. I don’t use the Greek yogurt or chocolate chips. I am convinced the bananas are KEY here. I let them ROT, let them get dark dark dark to the point where it could be leaking juice from the peel. I know sounds disgusting. Makes for DELISH banana bread suuuuuuper super moist. Also make sure u measure the flour correctly!! :))) happy baking thank you Sarah for this delish recipe!!
