Remember slutty brownies AKA the most incredible creation of all time?! Equal parts chewy chocolate chip cookie and fudgy crackle top brownies with a layer of Oreo cookies in the middle. These nostalgic bars are just as good as they were back in the day, but leveled up with homemade cookie dough!

slutty brownies

You should never have to choose between brownies, chocolate chip cookies and Oreos. Which is what I imagine the creator of slutty brownies woke up thinking on the day they created the masterpiece that is slutty brownies. Let’s all take a second to collectively thank the genius who first decided to layer cookie dough, Oreos, and brownies into one pan. Whoever you are, we owe you. A lot.

Now the iconic person who I know popularized these is Rosie of the Londoner. Rosie, I don’t know if you were the first person to do this, but we thank you for your work. The iconic three-layer brownie-oreo-chocolate chip cookie mashup are chewy, gooey, fudgy, crunchy, and absolutely over the top in the very best way. I used to make them all the time for my friends in high school with a boxed brownie mix and Tollhouse cookie dough, and let me tell you, they were always devoured.

These were all the rage 15 years ago and I think it’s time they had a resurgence with a little grown up, glow up. We leveled up from Tollhouse to a from-scratch chewy chocolate chip cookie base, a middle layer of Oreo cookies (obviously), and then a rich, crackle-top brownie layer made easy with a boxed mix (because we love a shortcut that doesn’t compromise on flavor).

The result? A crowd-pleaser that disappears in minutes, works for literally every occasion, and makes you look like the most fun person at the bake sale.

What Are Slutty Brownies?

If you somehow missed the early 2010s food blogging craze, let me catch you up. Slutty brownies are a decadent layered dessert bar made of:

  • A chocolate chip cookie layer (soft, chewy, buttery perfection)
  • A layer of Oreos (classic or double stuffed will do, but I vote doubel stuffed)
  • A brownie layer (rich, fudgy, chocolate heaven)

They’re essentially dessert inception: cookies inside brownies with a cookie base. One bite and you’ll understand why they earned their cheeky name.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Aside from being a total showstopper, these Oreo cookie brownie bars are:

  • Easy to make. No fancy equipment required. If you can stir, you can make slutty brownies.
  • Nostalgic. Remember making these in college or drooling over them on Pinterest? Yeah, they’re still that good.
  • Customizable. Swap Oreos for peanut butter cups, add caramel drizzle, or try different flavored cookies.
  • Perfect for sharing. Bake sales, parties, birthdays, Tuesdays—you get the idea.

Ingredients You’ll Need

You only need a handful of pantry staples (plus Oreos, which are a pantry staple in my house). Here’s what goes into each layer:

  • For the cookie layer:
    • Butter
    • Brown sugar + granulated sugar
    • Eggs
    • Vanilla extract
    • All-purpose flour
    • Baking soda
    • Salt
    • Chocolate chips
  • For the Oreo layer:
    • One package of Oreos (double stuffed highly recommended)
  • For the brownie layer:
    • 1 boxed brownie mix (plus whatever the box calls for: usually oil, eggs, water)

Step-By-Step Instructions

  1. Make the cookie dough

Whip up a quick batch of chocolate chip cookie dough. Spread it evenly into a parchment-lined 9 x 9-inch pan. Pro tip: press it into the corners so you get a uniform base.

  1. Add the Oreos

Layer your Oreos on top of the cookie dough. I like to break them up so you get Oreos in every nook and cranny!

  1. Pour over the brownie batter

Mix up your boxed brownie mix according to directions and pour that glossy chocolate batter over the Oreos. Spread into an even layer so the cookies are completely covered.

  1. Bake to gooey perfection

Pop the pan in the oven and bake until the edges are set but the middle still looks slightly underdone. They’ll continue cooking as they cool, so don’t overbake.

  1. Cool and slice

This is the hardest part: let the brownies cool fully before slicing. For clean edges, chill them in the fridge for 30 minutes, then cut with a sharp knife.

How to Store

If by some miracle you have leftovers (highly unlikely in my own experience)

  • Room temp: Store in an airtight container or plastic bag for up to 3 days.
  • Fridge: Store in an airtight container or plastic bag for 5 to 6 days. I genuinely think these taste even better the next day. The flavors meld together and they get even more fudgy!
  • Freezer: Keeps for up to 2 months in a freezer safe plastic bag! Just defrost them or pop in the microwave before enjoying!

LIFE’S TOO SHORT TO CHOOSE BETWEEN COOKIES AND BROWNIES!

Enjoy!

Ingredients

Units

For the cookie layer

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups chocolate chips
  • 18 Oreo cookies

For the brownie layer

  • 1 brownie mix prepared according to directions

Instructions

    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9 x 9-inch baking pan with parchment paper on all sides. Set aside.
    2. First make the cookie layer. In a large mixing bowl combine the melted butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar. Use a silicone spatula to stir to combine. Add the egg, egg yolk and vanilla extract and mix well.
    3. Add the flour, baking soda and salt to the mixing bowl and fold together until just mixed and no streaks of flour remain. Add the chocolate chips and fold to combine.
    4. Scrape the batter into the prepared pan and pat into an even layer. Place the Oreo cookies all over the top of the cookie dough, gently pressing them into the dough. Set aside.
    5. Prepare the brownie mix according to directions and pour over the Oreo cookies, using a silicone spatula to spread into an even layer.
    6. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes (it can depend on your brownie mix!) or until a knife inserted into the middle comes out mostly clean. Cool completely before slicing and serving!
